Bali Cottage
Location
Bali, Indonesia

Brief
A holiday cottage drawing on Balinese spatial traditions — thatched pavilions, open-sided living and a landscape that blurs the boundary between inside and out.
A private client with a long personal connection to Bali commissioned IMARK RENDER to design a holiday retreat that would honour the island's deep spatial and spiritual traditions while providing the comfort expected of a private holiday villa. The design is organised as a series of semi-open thatched pavilions connected by stone-paved garden paths, with a rice paddy framing the eastern boundary — a deliberate choice to embed the property within its landscape rather than enclose it against it.
