Traditional Residence
Location
Anuradapura, Sri Lanka

Brief
A contemporary take on traditional residential typology — pitched rooflines, courtyard framing and vernacular material sensibility reinterpreted through modern construction.
This private residence in Anuradhapura was commissioned by a family with strong ties to the region's architectural heritage who wanted a home that acknowledged that tradition without replicating it literally. IMARK RENDER's response draws on the proportions and spatial hierarchy of the Sri Lankan walawwa — the traditional manor house — reinterpreting its courtyard plan, pitched clay-tiled roofline and shaded veranda in a contemporary material palette of off-white render and exposed timber.
